We were so excited to announce an additional show to our line-up last week! Les Poules à Colin and Moonfruits are playing a new venue, La Fraternité in Alexandria on Sept. 30 at 7:30 p.m. La Fraternité has a long history as a social gathering place – read more about this historic small hall here. To secure your spot at the show, look here!
Did you know that Kelly, Shawn and Jim were representing Ontario in Prince Edward Island last week during the PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls? With more than 50 performances over 14 days in June, in more than 40 rural community halls, the PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls is a critically-acclaimed traditional music, storytelling and dance festival that has toes tapping across the Island. We love the opportunity to forge new connections, working closely with organizers and lending a hand, but also getting introduced to new artists that would provide a perfect fit with the Ontario Festival of Small Halls!
We have been receiving lots of press about our line-up this year! It seems everyone is as excited as we are – and we can feel the Small Hall love. Look here for a piece from the Winchester Press, featuring Fred Penner. But we’re not done yet! Our intrepid general manager, Kelly, will be guesting this Tuesday live on the CKWS TV morning show in Kingston, and on Cogeco TV, among other places.
We’re really getting into everything red and white as the big Canada 150th is fast approaching. Did you know that each year the majority of our artists are Canadian? Not only do we encourage local musicians to get on board through our opening acts, but the Ontario Festival of Small Halls is also committed to incorporating big name Canadian talent on the schedule each year. We have such a diverse and talented music scene here – so much to be proud of.
Lastly, have you seen our line up video announcement for this year? It is getting us into the Small Halls spirit even though the festival is still three months away! Watch it here.
