Let us give you a feel for what you can expect this week as we Deck the Small Halls in Almonte, Seeley’s Bay and Maxville with our holiday shows…
It’s like the fall festival, only cozier (if that’s possible). These shows are incredibly heart-warming. Friends, neighbours and visitors escape the early winter cold, discard their hats and mitts and settle in for a chit-chat with each other and a musical experience that will be the talk of the town for the days following.
For example at the Seeley’s Bay show last year with The Once, the audience participated whole-heartedly in favourite carols! The intimate nature of the Festival of Small Halls shows also allowed the band to interact with the crowd between songs.
Even when they performed several songs that were traditional but not necessarily holiday-oriented, goosebumps still ensued. Those shivers were followed by raucous applause in Almonte last year when The Once gave new voice to Anthem by Leonard Cohen.
The shows are simply a feel good time, and we’re anticipating taking that to another level this year with the energy and fiery instrumentals of Còig! The Nova Scotia powerhouse group is known for igniting big stages across the country and we’re so pleased to bring them to small town Ontario to usher in the season of giving. We know they’ll wrap up a memorable performance and put a bow on it for you!
Getting festive may mean different things to different people, but the feeling of community and sharing in high-quality Canadian music is a great way to kick off the holiday season no matter how you celebrate.
Doors open for all shows at 7 p.m. and the shows start at 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $25 or more at the door. See more here for tickets and info!
Be sure to connect with the festival on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram as the week progresses for more updates.
We can’t wait to Deck the Small Halls with you starting tomorrow!
