Making the most out of the holidays!

Our Deck the Small Halls communities sure know how to spread the Christmas cheer! There are numerous holiday activities planned in the communities during the coming weeks – and some even in conjunction with the Small Halls shows!

Turn the Very Celtic Christmas show featuring Coig on Nov. 30 in Almonte into a full weekend of holiday cheer! Coig kicks things off on Thursday evening at the Almonte Old Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. Learn more here! The next night, Almonte Lights Up the Night with the town’s annual Christmas celebration! This year marks 27 years of bringing thousands of people from the Mississippi Mills area and beyond to fill the main street of Almonte for one of the largest and most magical outdoor Christmas shows in Canada. Find out more here!

The festive fun continues in Seeley’s Bay on Dec. 1, as the village is hosting its annual tree lighting celebration before the Ontario Festival of Small Halls show at the Seeley’s Bay Community Hall! Join together just down the street for hot chocolate and cookies as the lights are switched on for the season! The tree lighting celebration begins at 6 p.m. and the lights come on at 6:30 p.m. Find more information about the tree lighting here. Be sure to get your tickets for the Coig Ontario Festival of Small Halls show in Seeley’s Bay here.

If you’re in Maxville next weekend, get a head start on the Christmas fuzzy feelings at the All that Glitters Santa Claus Parade, organized by the Maxville & District Chamber of Commerce. The parade is taking place on Sunday, November 19th. It leaves the Maxville Manor at 5 p.m. and winds down Main Street to the Maxville & District Sports Complex where refreshments will be served.

On the night of the Coig show in Maxville at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Dec. 2, take time before the show to travel 20 minutes down the road to stroll through Island Park in Alexandria for the Festival of Lights!  It’s open nightly from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with free admission!  Visit Santa’s Village in the centre and enjoy free hot chocolate. With hundreds of thousands of lights and displays, the Festival of Lights is famous for fostering holiday spirit. It opens on Nov. 26 this year and runs until Dec. 31. Look here for more!

Although The Once is playing in Merrickville at the United Church on Dec. 7 as part of the Ontario Festival of Small Halls holiday shows, the village starts getting into the spirit of the season on Dec. 2 during the Christmas in Merrickville community extravaganza! With a petting zoo, Breakfast with Santa, wagon rides, a magic show, a tree lighting, the annual Santa Claus parade and much more, the event is ready to sparkle with Christmas cheer. The following Thursday, Dec. 7, be dazzled by The Once! Learn more about the community festival here and then reserve your tickets to see The Once here!

The DACA Community Centre itself is known for hosting a few Christmas events throughout the season, but this year community members are flocking to Renfrew on Dec. 2 to see the annual Santa Claus Parade there. Starting at 5 p.m., the theme of the parade is Christmas 150 Wishes. Santa will also be at the Town Hall in the gazebo at Low Square to visit with kids after the parade. Kick-start your Christmas and then carry those feelings forward to Dec. 8 when The Once energizes the unique DACA Centre! Find out more here!
