In the picturesque village of Merrickville, Ontario, stands a historic church, a testament to late 19th-century craftsmanship and community spirit. Built in 1890 by the Methodist congregation, this grand edifice was designed to comfortably seat over 200 worshippers. Its most striking feature, and indeed its namesake today, are the exquisitely handcrafted, curved pews. These padded benches, fashioned by local artisans, boast unique ironwork end-caps, forged with precision at the long-lost Percival Stoveworks foundry.

Today, this magnificent architectural gem has been lovingly transformed into “The Pews,” a vibrant community hub. While honouring its rich heritage, The Pews now offers versatile event and rental spaces, welcoming a wide array of performances, gatherings, and activities. From concerts and theatrical productions to workshops and private celebrations, The Pews continues its legacy as a central gathering place, fostering connection and creativity within the Merrickville community.
