Festival of Small Halls forging ahead

We’re thinking back to last year at this time when the Festival snagged the coveted Small Festival of the Year Award at the Canadian Live Music Industry Awards in Toronto. What an honour!

This year, our general manager, Kelly Symes, attended the Canadian Music Week festival and conference that spans seven nights of performances with hundreds of bands at more than 30 live music venues in downtown Toronto. Canadian Music Week has been running for 37 years and is recognized as one of the premier entertainment events in North America focusing on the business of music.

We’re edging closer to announcing the lineup and halls for this year – and we can’t wait to share the news with you!  In the meantime, we’ve been updating our website a bit. You’ll notice a fun list of past performers to let you take a trip down memory lane. We’ve also got a more interactive Festival map in the works for this year, which will be launching this summer.

Have you checked out some of our photos from the 2018 Festival? In addition to posting them on social, we have a brief slideshow on the website, too.  Take a peek here.

Did you see that our sister festival, the PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls is coming up soon? Running from June 9 to 23, 2019 it looks like attendees are in for a treat, as always! This festival is unique as it’s a brilliant combination of music, dance and storytelling. Check out this year’s PEI Mutual Festival of Small Halls line up here.

Stay in touch to be the first to know about important announcements: sign up for our newsletter. Don’t worry – we won’t inundate you with emails. We only send out contact with our big musician announcement and once a month thereafter. Sound tempting? Click here to join our mailing list.

We’re into the thick of it now, finalizing dates, putting things in writing, securing artists, planning, coordinating with hall hosts, planning, partnering with tourism organizations and municipalities, planning… oh and did we mention planning? We even have a few new halls on board for this year – stay tuned within the next few weeks to find out which ones!
