Experience authentic small town festivities as Deck the Small Halls kicks off this weekend

Ho-ho-hold everything! Our holiday series starts THIS Friday and our Small Halls communities really know how to revel in the festive spirit!

There are some fantastic holiday activities planned in the show communities during the coming weeks – and some even in conjunction with the Small Halls shows. Here’s a look at some festivities this weekend around Almonte, Athens, Tweed, Seeley’s Bay, and Merrickville where Royal Wood and the Fortunate Ones will be performing.

The Royal Wood performance at the Joshua Bates Centre this Friday evening is kicking off a season of fun holiday activities in Athens! Be sure to check out McGregor’s Christmas Display before the show, which features beautiful lit up displays and lit walkways, a massive indoor Christmas village, and hot chocolate, with donations benefitting Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario. Don’t forget that the annual Santa Claus Parade of Lights will be held in Athens on Saturday, Dec. 7 2019 starting at 7 p.m.! First, come get into the festive spirit with us this Friday evening with Royal Wood – tickets here.

Almonte is known for it’s Christmas spirit and the sold out Fortunate Ones show at the Almonte Old Town Hall is just the tip of the iceberg! The Light Up the Night celebration the following weekend on Dec. 7 sees music, fireworks and Santa take over the downtown core. See more about that here.

The festive fun jingles into Seeley’s Bay on Nov. 29, as the village is hosting its annual tree lighting celebration a day before the Deck the Small Halls show featuring Fortunate Ones at the Seeley’s Bay Community Hall on Nov. 30! Join together just down the street for hot chocolate and cookies as the lights are switched on for the season! The tree lighting celebration begins at 6 p.m. and the lights come on at 6:30 p.m. Find more information about the tree lighting here. If you’re in the neighbourhood of Gananoque before the show (20 mins down the road from Seeley’s Bay) – Gananoque’s Santa Claus Parade is happening on Nov. 30 starting at 5 p.m. You could take in the parade then mosey on down to the Bay for the show! Be sure to get your ticket for the Fortunate Ones with special guest, Sherman Downey here.

Tweed will be hopping this weekend as the Royal Wood show at the Marble Arts Centre this Saturday is the icing on the cake for a winter celebration weekend! Come early to Tweed and join in All Dressed for Christmas, the annual shop local event. See a beautiful light display and Santa’s workshop for the kids Saturday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the local Lions Hall. Then lace up to take part in public skating at the Tweed Arena starting at noon.

Before the show, Quinn’s of Tweed is inviting Deck the Small Halls ticket holders to a pre-gathering private event to kick off the Royal Wood show taking place at the Marble Arts Centre on Saturday, Nov. 30. Drop into this gorgeous 150 year old building at 345 Victoria St. N. in Tweed any time between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. to see many historical and contemporary works of art before heading to the show. Light refreshments will be served. Get your Deck the Small Halls tickets to see Royal Wood perform at the Marble Arts Centre at 7:30 PM here!

Merrickville is a Christmas community through and through. Not only do the streets look like a permanent Christmas card at this time of year, but the village has a lot planned to ring in the holiday season! Before the Fortunate Ones show on Sunday, Dec. 1 at Merrickville United Church, gather to watch the CP Holiday Train roll into town with lights a glow on Wednesday Nov. 27 arriving at 4:45 p.m.  The following weekend, Merrickville has its annual celebration of the season, Christmas in Merrickville, planned for Dec. 7, featuring the Santa Claus Parade, Breakfast with Santa, petting zoo, magician and lots of holiday themed activities. Find out more about that event here. Join us first at the Deck the Small Halls matinee show to get into the festive spirit! Tickets here.
