Delta Old Town Hall
Since its construction in 1880, Delta’s two-story Old Town Hall has served the town as a meeting place, courthouse, jail, community theatre, masonic lodge, municipal office, and museum. The first floor of the Old Town Hall, with its raked floor and stage, hosted theatre productions, music concerts, and traveling medicine shows. An enduring fixture in Delta, the Old Town Hall has witnessed many community milestones, such as the day when area soldiers mustered in front of the hall before leaving to fight in World War I.
The Old Town Hall eventually fell into neglect, but was revived in 1999 by the Delta Mill Society, a community-run organization that also preserves and manages Delta’s Old Stone Mill, a National Historic Site and the country’s oldest operating stone grist mill. From 1999 to 2011, the Old Town Hall housed a Museum of Industrial Technology that showcased 1800’s milling and industrial technology. In 2012, with the assistance of the Trillium Foundation and local fundraising, the Delta Mill Society renovated the hall. Since reopening in 2013, the hall has been used for displays, museum events and programs, a tourist information center, and a facility for shows, celebrations, and community dinners.
