East Coast Experience with opener Ryan Young Duo ~ Winchester, ON

October 19 @ 7:00 pm

Since their formation in 2017, East Coast Experience has been gracing Canadian stages delivering high energy performances and selling out Tap Rooms, Concert Halls, and Music Festivals along the way. Winner of the Ottawa Faces 2024 People’s Choice “Music Group of the Year”, 2023 Capital Music Awards “New Artist of the Year”, nominated for “Group of the Year 2023” by the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition and Folk / Roots Group of the Year 2022 by Music NL, this versatile group can set the tone for an up close, intimate performance or scale things up to entertain audiences in any type of venue. Influenced by many different genres of music, the Roots Rock ensemble released their debut studio project titled “Home” in 2022. This much anticipated project takes listeners on a musical journey with storytelling compositions influenced in the Alt Folk / Roots Rock genre. In addition to their tasteful originals, the set list just wouldn’t be complete without including some Celtic, East Coast influenced crowd pleasers that compliment their own music and keep people on their feet, dancing and coming back for more! Stay tuned for our brand new full length album being released in June 2024.

Focusing on traditional Scottish music, Ryan Young brings new life to very old, often forgotten tunes by playing them in his own unique way. His fiddle playing is brimming with fresh melodic ideas, an uplifting rhythmic drive and a great depth of dynamics and precision. His sound is very distinctive and takes the listener on an emotional and adventurous journey in any performance.

Ryan holds both a first-class honours and a Masters degree from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, was twice a finalist in the BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards, and twice a finalist in the prestigious BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of The Year. He was awarded ‘Up And Coming Artist Of The Year’ at the Scots Trad Awards in 2017, nominated for the Horizon Award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards 2018 and awarded Folking.com’s Musician Of The Year title, also in 2018.
